More than 780 million people around the world still lack access to clean water. Will you help me in my efforts to change this?
On May 5th I will be participating in the NYC Five Boro Bike Tour to support Water For People, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to creating safe drinking water resources, improved sanitation facilities, and hygiene education programs in the developing world. Although I'm terrified of bikes, I'll be riding these 42 miles because my ride will mirror what millions of people around the world do everyday--mount their bicycles and ride long distances to collect clean water for their families.
Water For People currently operates in 11 countries in Africa, Asia, Central America, and South America. One of the countries it targets is Malawi, the country where I spent the summer of 2009, with Tim, learning a little about an area that needs a lot. All of the money I raise will go towards supporting this organization's programs.
My personal goal is to raise $1,000. Please help me in my personal goal. Your support will truly mean a lot.
P.S. If pictures of me falling off my bike will motivate you to donate, just ask. I’ll collect a lot over the course of this endeavor, and I’ll share as many as you need.
