Watermelon Art for Children in Hospitals
Organized by: AMANDA WOODS
June 25, 2016
Hello, my name is Amanda and my husband (Will Kitchen) is a talented and imaginative artist. It occurred to me that one of the paintings--a whimiscal painting of a smiling watermelon--he did years ago is perfect for children. As a child myself, I suffered a spinal cord injury as a result of a violent crime and spent many months in a Shriner's hospital in Chicago and this has inspired me to create a project to have postcards printed that feature the painting on the front and are blank on the back and to send them to children's hospitals for them to pass out to their patients--this will essentially be like passing out art. The painting is so much fun and cheerful, it will certainly bring a smile to even the sickest of children. I would like to raise enough money to cover the cost of having 10,000 cards printed and the shipping cost of sending these to hospitals. Please help me to turn this little dream into a reality--you can feel good about doing so knowing your contribution will cheer up a child going through a hard time. Thank you!
