EVENT DATE: Apr 02, 2016
On April 2nd, 2016, the brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha at the University of Michigan will be hosting our annual Watermelon Bust philanthropy event to benefit Food Gatherers of Ann Arbor, a local food bank and member of our national philanthropy partner, Feeding America. The Watermelon Bust campaign will feature a semester-long food drive competition and funraising campaign between on-campus student organizations, culminating in a day of watermelon-themed events. The event itself will be held on the Lambda Chi front lawn located at 1601 Washtenaw Avenue, in conjunction with the University of Michigan’s campus-wide “Greek Week” games.
Since 1988, Food Gatherers has relied on the generous support of people like you to continue its mission of helping the hungry citizens of Washtenaw County. Every year in Washtenaw County, 1 in 7 people struggle with food insecurity or hunger. Through Food Gatherers and its supporters, over 100,000 meals are served annually to those in need. In 2015, we raised over 79,000 pounds of food for Food Gatherers, and this year we hope to garner even greater support from University students and area businesses. We encourage and welcome any and all donations made to our event.
