BENEFITING: Save The Bay, Inc.
EVENT DATE: Jul 21, 2017
Water may be our most precious resource. From economics to health to recreation, protection of our waterways is critical to our collective wellbeing. My name is Darren, and I am passionate about the health of the world we live in. It is a selfish passion. I live on this earth. More specifically, I live in Rhode Island, home of the Narragansett bay. I paddle, hike, water my garden, and drink from the watershed of this bay.
At one time, it was one of the largest shellfisheries in the world. During the industrial revolution, entire inlets would turn the color of the dye the mills upstream were using that day. Save the Bay is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of this bay and its watershed. I am also an avid hiker.
So, in these challenging times, I'm combining my passions to do my part, and I'm going to walk 100 miles...in one weekend, from Worcester, MA to Newport, RI to raise awareness and hopefully money for this organization's work to protect a waterway and watershed that affect millions of people and many, many species of animal, fish, and waterfowl. Please support my efforts to support the important work of Save the Bay.
