BENEFITING: Saha Global
This fall I have the amazing opportunity to volunteer with Community Water Solutions, soon to be Saha Global, as a member of their water fellowship team in Ghana. Community Water Solutions, CWS, is an incredible non-profit organization that partners with rural communities in Ghana to develop sustainable water treatment systems and provide clean water access to those who would otherwise resort to contaminated, turbulent surface water.
CWS implements simple, affordable, and locally procured materials to install systems that are easily maintained and operated, allowing for treatment, distribution and storage of safe clean water. Additionally, CWS develops a platform for empowerment of the women in the community, who are trained to take on the entrepreneurial role as leader of the water business in their community.
To ensure sustainable and long-lasting solutions, each community is addressed with hands on approaches to educate not only on the system itself, but also on the health importance of clean water. All of the installed water systems are still in operation today.
As my passion for tackling the Global Water Crisis has lead me to an engineering career in industrial wastewater treatment at Oasys Water, this opportunity allows me to expand that passion of sustainable water treatment beyond my design work to applied humanitarian water solutions.
All funds raised in support of Community Water Solutions will cover in-country expenses and all project costs, including the long-term monitoring costs for the water system.
Thank you all for your contributions and support! I hope to repay you with amazing stories and photographs upon my return!
