Hi, we are the Wayland Wolves, a Destination Imagination team made up of seven 5th graders from the Claypit Hill School in Wayland, Massachusetts. Destination Imagination is a program that encourages teams of learners to have fun, take risks, focus and frame challenges while incorporating STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), the arts and service learning. All of the programs are project based, teaching the creative process from imagination to innovation.
This team chose the technical "Creature Feature" challenge which required them to build a creature and the world the creature lives in, create a story about the creature's world and use science to make the creature perform actions, in this case, the creature moved, consumed and communicated. The team then performed an 8 minute play that they wrote to tell the story of the world they created.
This team started working on this project in October. On March 15, 2015 they competed against 19 other teams at the Regional competition and they won 1st place. From there it was onto the State competition held on March 28, 2015 where their performance earned them one of two spots at the Destination Global Final's which will be held in Knoxville, TN from May 20 -23.
While this team has worked extremely hard and is eager to present their efforts at the Global Finals, they can't do that without your financial support. The cost of approximately $1,100 per child for registration and travel, which is why we are looking to raise money to help defer the cost of this trip.
Any support you are able to provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much,
The Wayland Wolves
