The Women’s Centers International Campaign is about financing a women’s revolutionary movement.
As important as is the development of better treatments for women suffering from heart disease, diabetes and cancer, the needs women, particularly those struggling within the institution of poverty, extend much farther than health issues.
Through community-based Women’s Centers, we endeavor to reach, restore and empower our ‘half of the sky ‘ that has been clouded over by systematic discrimination and marginalization.
The undereducated woman languishing in a minimum wage job.
The abused woman trapped in a cycle of violence.
The homeless mom frantic to find shelter for herself and her children.
The isolated woman searching for a community of support.
The sick woman unaware of how to restore her health.
A Woman’s Center provides safety and a place of sisterhood.
A Center offers a one-stop resource for the tools to shed hopelessness, to grow a strong sense of self worth, to build a prosperous and contributory life.
The struggle for women’s equality has a fortress here.
We work to ensure that women’s priorities – for safe neighborhoods, for satisfying well-paid livelihoods, for good housing, for healthy well educated children and strong families – become the priorities of our communities.
WCI’s first US-based Center is now serving Oakland, CA. We envision seeding Centers throughout the Bay Area, expanding throughout California and then marching eastward. We connect them with existing Women’s Centers in Africa and new ones around the world.
It’s a vast, vital undertaking. We have no time to lose in unleashing the genius of women to transform our desperately unbalanced world.
$1,000,000 to innovate in restoring women’s rightful authority? It’s a good start.
