I have been to the Polar Plunge all 15 years, year one I was six years old. My mother did not want us to go in my sister and I. Still got my feet wet that year though. That was the only year my grandfather Charles Murphy Sr. would make it on to the beach. He passed soon after to a fight with Renal cancer. What was once a crazy idea now to me is a family tradition and an event to be planned around. A few years passed and in 2005 my mother, Monique, had been diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer. She had won her fight and beat it into remission. Or so we thought. In 2008 my mother had a relapse with her cancer which had spread to her spine, neck, and brain. I am one of four children, Leah, Myself, Brendan, and Payton. we each could tell you our own side of the story. Mom had passed before christmas that year. This has made all of us stronger in our own ways. I am proud to say that this year I have also recieved the reigns for team We Print Today. Becoming the captain in my father's shoes, Charles Murphy Jr. they are big shoes to fill, so I intend on not letting anyone down.
Thank you for your time.
Nicholas C. Murphy
