BENEFITING: DREAM ON INTERNATIONAL
In 2011, Dream On International founded the Dream On Residential Home for children and teens who have been rescued from human trafficking, child labor, and sexual violence in Ghana. Dream On provides holistic care in a family-style home for 17 residents and cares for an additional 27 children who attend boarding school near to the home.
In Ghana, there are currently no emergency post-rescue facilities or witness protection programs for victims of violent crimes. The Dream On Residential Home was created out of a critical need to provide protection and care for children and teens who have been rescued from severe abuse. Teenagers are especially vulnerable, as they are not easy to place in foster care, and many take to the streets. Young adults with complex psycho-social issues due to years of physical, psychological, and sexual abuse can’t remain within their communities and require proper rehabilitation and reintegration to become successful and well-functioning citizens.
Dream On has been at the forefront of rescuing children from human trafficking in Ghana and has been successfully caring for and reintegrating children into society for nine years. Children on the Rescue Sponsorship Program receive holistic care in the form of education, tutoring, internships, complete medical care, psychological counseling, proper nutrition, extracurricular activities, mentorship, family outings, and more. We empower young adults to become independent and productive citizens of their communities.
Being physically freed from slavery or abuse is only the first step. Achieving complete freedom involves all the hard work that follows — psychological healing, acquisition of skills and education, building confidence, and learning to trust again. This takes time, patience, constant guidance and support, and consistent funding to make it all possible. We are pleased with our progress and excited that we now have enrolled seven of our residents into university, with many others not far behind. Please join us in helping to make dreams come true by donating to our Rescue Program today.
Of note: It is the policy of Dream On International to protect the privacy and safety of children who are part of our Rescue Program. Thus, we do not post photos of their faces or reveal their actual names. Thank you for understanding our commitment to ensure the safety and dignity of women and children who are sponsored by Dream On International.
