EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2012
HOURS PLEDGED: 100
I've been a GEN volunteer since 2001 and a Board Member since 2010. My first time at the Girls conference was an "Aha!" moment as I witnessed how the Conference gave so much positive reinforcement to the girls who attend. They experience comraderie, making new friends, training and sharing their struggles in a world where it truely is tough to be a girl. The WAG is an amazing opportunity for all girls! I invite you to be a part of this pivotal event by making a donation for a Girl to attend. Thank you!
Here is a story from one girl whose life has been touched by GENaustin.
Solana is an 8th grade girl in Austin, Texas who, like most of her peers, is worrying about bullying and body image. “You always hear girls say, I look so fat or I’m so ugly – because we feel bad about our bodies. We worry about bullying, too. Some girls will intimidate you by starting rumors or physical fights. There are girls who will beat you up. ”
Solana is like hundreds of other girls who want to attend GENaustin’sWe Are Girls Conference on Saturday, November 3rdat Austin High School to talk to local and national experts about bullying, body image and being a girl. Yet so many girls can’t afford the $30 ticket.
Will you scholarship a girl like Solana to this life-changing event for just $30?
Year after year, girls and parents from all over Texas tell us the We Are Girls Conference helped them address the issues they are facing and not feel so alone. $30 will send one lucky girl to have this empowering experience and we need your help to provide this opportunity to at least 50% of our 1600 attendees.
With a national crisis for girls, your support is paramount. Please make a donation of $30 or more and make a difference in a girl’s life!
