In 2015, Sharing America's Marrow (SAM) traveled to all 50 states, driving over 24,000 miles to raise awareness and register bone marrow donors in honor of Sam Kimura. Sam has been fighting aplastic anemia since 2010 and needs a bone marrow transplant in order to be cured, but does not have a matching donor. To find a match for Sam, and for the thousands of other patients fighting blood cancer, Sam, her sister Alex, and her friend Taylor hit the road. The SAM team has signed up over 24,000 donors and has found over 400 matches so far.
The SAM movement is still growing, hosting donor registration events and creating chapters of volunteers in different cities across the country. SAM is also creating a feature-length documentary, In Our Bones, about their year on the road to raise awareness and encourage people to join the donor registry. Your financial support will help SAM register more life-saving donors and raise awareness about bone marrow transplants and blood cancer. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to SAM to help find more heroes.
