We Can! is dedicated to supporting Native-led organizations and individuals that seek to heal and transform our society, economy and environment through projects that promote justice, sustainability, multiculturalism and resiliency in Northern Arizona and the Colorado Plateau.
What's happening? We Can! is just getting up and running and really needs the support of people like you to make our work possible. We have some amazing things we'd like to do and we have some even more amazing people working with us.
What are we trying to do? We Can! is working to provide fiscal sponsorship, administrative and fundraising support, capacity building and training to Native-led organizations and projects throughout Northern Arizona and the Colorado Plateau.
Why is all of this important? Some of the most challenging environmental and social justice issues in the country are impacting the land, communities and people of Northern Arizona and the Colorado Plateau. Extensive natural resource exploitation, cultural disintegration/assimilation, and debilitating socio-economic injustices are all heavily impacting the people, land and the communities.
In spite of this, Native communities and people possess much strength, inventiveness, and self-determination. There are numerous people and organizations that have the passion and drive to work towards solutions. And there is no question that they are dedicated to building strong and healthy communities that are based on the principles of justice and sustainability.
However, one of the biggest hurdles that Native-led organizations and individuals face is the lack of adequate tools, skills and resources to address these problems effectively, strategically, and collaboratively. And the unfortunate by-product of this deficit is that the organizations and projects fail to thrive, or they end up closing their doors altogether.
Who are we? Even though We Can! is a very new organization, we are made up of committed and capable individuals that have years of organizing and fundraising experience in Northern Arizona and the Colorado Plateau.
