BENEFITING: WEDIKO CHILDRENS SERVICES INC
ORGANIZER: WEDIKO CHILDRENS SERVICES INC
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
On November 6th, we are joining forces to run the New York Marathon for Wediko Children’s Services [Wediko]. As you may know, across the US, kids are working hard just to get through the day. They are faced with countless barriers to their potential. 1 in 5 children struggle with a mental health or learning issue, including; ADHD, depression, anxiety, autism, or specific learning disability. Many children face additional stressors related to violence, poverty, and substance abuse. With centers in New York, Boston and New Hampshire, Wediko works with children, families and schools to help restore hope.
The transformative changes Wediko has made with children spans more than eight decades. One mother wasn’t sure her son would reach his 17th birthday because he had lost all hope. Because of the clinicians and therapeutic mentors who worked with him, he bear-hugged his mom for the first time in six years. As parents of three boys, we can only imagine what that mother and son were going through. At Wediko, children’s mental health is the priority, they empower children and build stronger families and communities.
Thank you so much for your willingness to give to such an important organization.

Wediko is honored to support a team of runners dedicated to making their miles matter. Together, runners, donors, and Wediko make an impact on over 4500 children and families each year.
Wediko partners with families, schools, and community partners to develop programs and services that support social and emotional development so that learning and academic achievement can happen. Wediko’s model can be described as “saturated nurturance” in that building safety, connection, and collaboration is the baseline onto which all other interventions are constructed.
