BENEFITING: Hudson Valley Humane SPCA
"Wellington" is an adult Dachshund (7 years +) who came to the Hudson Valley Humane Society via a cruelty complaint where his medical conditions were neglected: rotted teeth, severe flea bite dermatitis and, as our vet put it, "the worst case of infected ears she had ever seen". Both ears were so painful that he had to be under anesthesia to flush them. Skin scrapings diagnosed flea bite dermatitis on nearly 50% of his body, this dog was constantly itching, scratching and had raw, inflamed skin which is just miserable. Additionally it didn't take a specialist to acknowledge the rotting smell emanating from his mouth and 4 teeth had to be pulled, all others were scaled clean. Despite his overall state, he was a gentlemen from the start and grateful for the daily care we gave him which took 5 1/2 months. Little "Wellie" has since been adopted into a loving home with another Dachshund and they are best buddies. This fundraising effort seeks to recover our veterinary expenses so that we may continue to provide the same level of care for other animals. The HVHS is not funded by tax-dollars, we rely entirely on voluntary donations.
