I found Bubba on the street- cold, wet, muddy, and exhausted. When I tried to put him in the car to take him home, he cried. I knew something was wrong.
We rushed him to the hospital and x-rays found that he had been shot with a BB gun (15 BBs were found in him), as well as a fractured vertibrae. He is roughly 7 years old, has never been neutered, and has a testicular tumor. It is fair to say that he may have never been to the vet.
He is now recovering comfortably on pain medication, and will be neutered tomorrow.
His activity will be restricted for 8 weeks while we see if his fracture heals, but it's possible he may need surgery. This will cost anywhere between $2,000-$4,000.
As of right now, his emergency room bill is $425, and his neuter will run over $100. While I gladly put it on my credit card, it will take me a long time to recuperate these funds working my low-paying job, and I have four pets of my own (two of them seniors) who often need veterinary care.
I am asking for you all to open your hearts and help me to care for this precious guy, who has survived some awful abuse and is given a chance at a better life. Somehow, he was able to escape his situation, and I am so grateful for that.
He is good natured, loving, and surprisingly resilient. He deserves the best, but as they say- it takes a village.
Any amount raised over what I have paid into his bills so far will go into a reserve for his potential surgery/veterinary care fund. If he is adopted, this reserve will be managed by me and will not be given to the new owner without proof of veterinary care. I take these donations seriously and they will be used responsibly.
