After 2 months shy of 20 years with the same company I was recently told my position was being phased out. I made good money and since it was a big box retailer I am sure they looked at it as now they could hire 3 younger associates for what they paid me. I was upset at my position disappearing but what broke my heart was my 20 year anniversary would have given me a $10,000 bonus. I've been promising my daughter since she found a school in early 2013 specializing in special effects, make-up, visual design, advanced photoshop, green screen editing and rotoscoping as well as other techniques that I I will give her my bonus so she could get this opportunity. It's been a dream of hers and right now it's a field that has lots of potential . I have been able to pay my mortgage thanks to unemployment and with my resume I have been getting several interviews so I'm not worried about myself. All I have ever wanted is to help my daughter find something she could make a career out of in these uncertain times. She has a friend in the city the school is in and can live very affordably there. I'm going to miss her since we have lived together for 20 years but I am proud and happy for her. I've learned that even though I thought I would retire at the job I was at for so long nothing is entirely sure in these economic times. A student loan isn't what I had planned for her, I wanted to pay the whole first year so she doesn't start out in debt. If for some reason I can't find an equivalent or better job then I'll downsize. I've gotten lots of good deals on clearance at my old job ( it was a big box home center ) so for the small amount I spent it greatly increased the value of the home...i hope. Anyway I'd really like to surprise her because she has lost hope that school can happen this year or even next. Raising her on my own all these years we never had much but we did have each other and my mom has always been there to help when my daughter was young and I had to work. I didn't intern this to be such a long description but if anyone can help with any amount if it adds up to enough then it may be affordable for us to take a loan for the rest. Thank you for taking the time to read our situation and may you all be blessed with happiness, hope, and food fortune!
