BENEFITING: Baja Dog Rescue
The Story This year Baja Dog Rescue, has rescued 450 dogs from squalor, starvation, and disease. Baja Dog Rescue has continued to see a much higher level of medical need among the animals coming into our care. Despite the challenges of rehabilitating animals with more serious medical conditions, and how advanced care has used up much of the organization's available funds, we are still on track to complete our most adoptions ever. We're happy to share that almost all of the affected animals have recovered and we've adopted out 120 more animals than this point last year. Please help Baja Dog Rescue maintain this great momentum by helping us pay off some of the medical bills our dogs incurred on the way to their forever homes. Your support will ensure that we can continue to help animals have the healthiest possible start to their new lives! Most of the animals we rescue do not necessarily show signs of ill health on intake but once a dog comes into our care, we are committed to providing the proper treatment as recommended by our trusted veterinary partners. Seeing an animal through from rescue and diagnosis to a clean bill of health and adoption can be an expensive endeavor, with tests and treatments often reaching several hundred dollars more than the adoption fee we charge for each animal especially for things that we treat like Erlichea, Distemper, Parvo , Parasites and Cancer. Baja Dog Rescue does an excellent job of stretching our modest resources to provide the care these dogs need to be healthy enough for adoption. Despite our best efforts, sometimes diagnostic tests reveal that we cannot save the life of an animal even if we were to pursue radical treatments. In those sad cases, we've cared for a dog that ultimately will not be able to be adopted, yet has still incurred medical costs associated with diagnosis and ongoing treatment. After a difficult six months of challenging medical cases mixed with the success of finding homes for an ever growing number of animals, Baja Dog Rescue is sending an "SOS!" to its loyal supporters to request aid that will allow us to come back stronger than ever and ready to find homes for a record number of homeless dogs.
