Today, there are nearly 100,000 Holocaust survivors living in poverty in Israel. Considering what horrendous brutality and inhumanity they suffered and survived, it is unconscionable that in their old age they are living without life's basic necessities.
We cannot change the horrors Holocaust survivors have endured. But we can show them and ourselves that we're committed to doing more than just remembering this tragic chapter in our history, Instead we can allow ourselves to become a better society, a society that helps those in need and doesn't look the other way. Over 60 years ago the world stood by while they suffered -- we remember, and we won't let it happen again.
Never again. Never forget.
