Research Down Syndrome

Hey Teams:
Thanks for all your efforts in training and fundraising, completed or yet to come. We are honored and so grateful that you have joined the RDS Runners Teams in these races. Of course, some of you, and I won't mention names, ;) need to pick up the pace, or get started all together. Use emails, tweets, Facebook posts... let all your friends know about the event and the importance of supporting Down syndrome research that will lead to improved memory, learning and communication in persons with Down syndrome.

I was in Washington, DC the other day at a Down Syndrome Research Consortium meeting sponsored by the NIH.

Never have I seen such enthusiastic support for research like RDS is funding - Research that will lead to drug therapies that will improve memory and learning in persons with Down syndrome. Also, research that is aimed at understanding the connection between Down syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease, and developing treatments for this as well. Spread the word, that with your friends' help, RDS Runners and Research Down Syndrome are changing the course in understanding and treating the intellectual disabilities in Down syndrome.

I am off to San Francisco on Friday, July 27 to meet with our RDS Runners team competing this Sunday in the Wipro San Francisco marathon. RDS Runners team dinner is Friday night.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible at future events if I can make them. More details will follow.

You all are so fantastic to be giving as you do! RDS greatly appreciates your efforts.

All the best. Continued good luck with your training.

I am proud that you: RACE FOR THE EXTRAORDINARY!

CROWDRISING SINCE: Jun 13, 2012
Stuff About Me:

My name is Wesley Cure and I am excited to be participating in the Air Force Marathon on behalf of the RDS Runners Team.  RDS supports scientific studies directed towards understanding the sourcesof cognitive difficulties in persons with Down syndrome. RDS believes in the promise of a future where therapies will be available that will help improve memory, learning and communication in persons with Down syndrome. This will lead to increased life opportunities in education, employment, social interactions....perhaps a future where persons with Down syndrome might be able to live independently. Please join with the RDS Runners as their miles help RDS fund research that already has made extraordinary progress.

I am originally from Bloomington, IN. I have been married for three years to my wonderful wife, Andrea. As many of you may know, she has been a special education teacher for the past 5 years. Her passion in helping those with disabilities has inspired me. It is my hope that through this run, we can raise money for research to support the mission of RDS. Thank you for your support!
