My name is Wes Meserve and I was born in Newburyport, MA. I lived in Merrimac, MA until I moved overseas to Egypt and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates where I lived for about 10 years. I moved back to Merrimac, MA and attended Pentucket Regional HIgh School. During high school, I stayed very active in extra curricular activities including cross country, track, baseball, wrestling, and basketball. I graduated high school in the spring of 2007 and then attended the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
I absolutely loved this school and do miss it very much. But we do all have to grow up eventually and start up in the real world! While at college I was on the cross country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track teams. I was also an active member in many organizations including: Theta Delta Chi, UMD Outdoor Club, Beta Alpha Psi, and Habitat for Humanities. I have made many relationships during my time at this college and will hold these friendships for the rest of my life. I graduated in the spring of 2011 with my bachelor's in Accounting and a minor in Information Systems. Then I went right back in the fall of 2011 and graduated in the winter of 2012 with my graduate degree. I graduated again with my Master's in Business Administration (MBA).
I am a very outgoing person and just love living the life I live. I go by the saying: "Live everyday as if it were your last and never, ever take anything for granted!" After graduating school, I still am a very competitive runner. I run at least 4-5 times a week when I have time for it as well as going to the gym. I also enjoy eating healthy and just being a healthy person. I enjoy anything in the outdoors like hiking, camping, biking, swimming, kayaking, snowboarding, etc... The winter is great because I love snowboarding. I have been running road races quite often as well as obstacle races. I love doing races like Spartan Races, Tough Mudders, and the Raid Series. I have done 3 Tough Mudders so far. I completed my Spartan Trifecta last year for Spartan Race where I completed three different distances in one calendar year. I completed 2 sprints (5k+), 1 super (7 miles +), and an Ultra Beast (26.2 miles +). I would have to say the biggest accomplishment so far was the Ultra Beast I did last September in Killington, Vermont. It ended up being 30 miles long and took around 12 hours to complete from 6AM to 6PM. It was a GREAT experience! Obstacle racing is great because it includes both running as well as pure strength. It is the best out of both worlds! This year, the 2014 Boston Marathon will be an amazing thing to add to my running resume and I cannot wait to tackle it!
I worked at the restaurant Not Your Average Joe's for about 6 years as a server. Once graduating from college, I worked for Partners as a temp and then got the job at Boston Medical Center. I am currently a Grant Accountant in the department of Hematology/Oncology Cancer Care Clinical Trials. I currently reside in Merrimac, MA and commute to work everyday. I look to live in Boston very soon once I can afford it!
"Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.
