BENEFITING: American Red Cross

EVENT: Board Teams

American Red Cross West Virginia Region

THE STORY:

The American Red Cross in West Virginia is mobilizing to Sound the Alarm to reduce deaths and injuries from home fires by installing FREE smoke alarms in our community. Join us and be a part of this lifesaving effort by making a donation today.

The Challenge: Home fires kill seven people every day in the U.S. More than 60% fire-related deaths are in homes without working smoke alarms, and more than 5 million U.S. homes are without smoke alarms.

The Solution: Together with volunteers, fire departments and local community partners, we are installing FREE smoke alarms, replacing dead alarm batteries, helping families create escape plans and teaching people about fire prevention. Sound the Alarm. Save a Life.

Please join the American Red Cross in saving lives by supporting The Home Fire Campaign with volunteers installing smoke alarms in the homes of West Virginians. You can personally help with a donation on this page, volunteering to help educate about the danger of home fires or install smoke alarms, or use this page to spread the word by sharing on your social media pages.

Help us install our 1 millionth smoke alarm. On average, seven people die every day from a home fire. But you can help protect families against these tragedies. In West Virginia alone, the Red Cross has saved 12 lives with smoke alarms installed by our Red Cross volunteers. Join us in October 2017 as we install lifesaving alarms in more than 100 cities and towns nationwide. In October 2017, the Red Cross and our community partners will install alarms in every state, plus U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico. The major events in West Virginia are in Charleston, WV and Beckley, WV. You can help save lives in West Virginia by volunteering, making a gift or spreading the word. For more information on volunteering contact Kellie Aikman @ 304-340-1811 or kellie.aikman@redcross.org. If you are interested in making a gift, please use this page to make your generous donation. Help us reach our goal of $25,000 statewide. And please share this page on your social media pages so we can get the word out about our "Sound the Alarm: Save A Life" events. The Red Cross depends on the generosity of our volunteers and donors to save lives in West Virginia. Will you join us? If you know someone who is in need of an smoke alarm, or you are in need of a smoke alarm...please reach out by calling the American Red Cross in West Virginia @ 1-844-216-8286.
