ORGANIZER: WESTCHESTER MEDICAL CENTER FOUNDATION
I’m going the distance for the children cared for at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network. As a pediatric anesthesiologist, it is an honor to represent Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital as a runner in the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon on November 5.
Since joining the team at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital six years ago, I have had the opportunity to care for many children, and whether I am working with healthy children on routine or on unique and challenging cases, I find caring for pediatric patients and their families incredibly fulfilling. Among the many cases that I have been a part of was the first-ever separation of conjoined twins at the Children’s Hospital in January 2017, when I was able to bring one of the twins to the parents in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
I live in New York City and served in the U.S. Navy prior to joining the team at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital.
When I run in this year’s New York City Marathon, I will remember the meaningful work that I have the opportunity to do each day and think of the pediatric patients we care for at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital.
Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital is the children’s hospital for New York’s Hudson Valley region and Fairfield County, Connecticut. Located in Valhalla, NY, this 136-bed advanced pediatric facility cares for the region’s most seriously ill and injured children including those in need of cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, hematology and oncology treatments, organ transplants and other specialty pediatric services. Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital is also home to the area’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Level I pediatric trauma and burn care programs and its Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Thank you for your support of our pediatric patients at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital.
