I started at Westchester Medical Center as a new graduate in 1987. I have worked in several positions including a staff nurse on med-surg and PICU; Assistant Associates Nursing Care Coordinator where I helped to open 6SW; staff nurse ICUD; Nurse Manager of Sub-Acute Rehab: Nursing Supervisor in Taylor Care. I returned to the Main Tower to HIM as a Clinical Documentation Specialist.
In 2015, I was encouraged by one of the Orthopedic PA's to run the 2015 Healing Half/10K. After that I ran some 5K's, and by the time I ran the Healing Half/10K 2016, I found I was really enjoying running.
This past spring, I registered with the American Cancer Society to run the NYC half marathon and completed it in 2:07:55. I never thought it would be so emotional or fulfilling. After the race, the other nurses and PT's that I ran with said I should do the marathon - and I am thrilled to run my first marathon on November 5 on behalf of my patients and the WMCHealth Network.
Westchester Medical Center is the premier provider of advanced medical care in New York’s Hudson Valley region. The flagship of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network, this 895-bed academic hospital located in Valhalla, New York, provides local residents with acute care services - Level I trauma and burn care, organ transplants and advanced neurovascular procedures and more - found nowhere else in the region. Westchester Medical Center is the primary referral facility for other hospitals in the Hudson Valley and serves as a lifeline for more than 3.5 million people.
I am tremendously humbled to represent Westchester Medical Center in the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon. I would like to go the distance for our patients. Thank you.
