EVENT: Annie's Garden Funder 2014
Our goal for the WestConn Permaculture Garden on the midtown campus is to have hundreds of our students, classes and clubs involved in the design and planting of our first permaculture garden project. The harvests will be used in the campus cafeteria shared with local food banks as well. In partnering with the campus food service, Sodexco, we hope to introduce fresh produce into the cafeteria menu. The more the students see the garden (in a prominent place on campus), eat from the garden and dig in the garden, the greater their appreciation will be for natural food. We will be attracting younger students and even preschool students from the area as well and giving them similar opportunities to participate and learn. Through our connection with the Jane Goodall Institute and our award-winning Roots & Shoots club here on campus, we continue to promote the mission of Dr. Goodall in caring for the planet and each other.
