Westport Country Playhouse is an 88-year old, nationally recognized, not-for-profit, professional theater under the artistic direction of Mark Lamos and management leadership of Michael Barker. Housed in a 578 seat, barrier-free, state-of-the-art performing arts facility, the Playhouse offers a 5-play season of the highest quality, innovative productions of new and classic live theater; the season runs from May through November. During the summer, the Playhouse is home to the Woodward Internship program, renowned for the training of aspiring theater professionals. The Playhouse offers family performances, staged readings and more affordable opportunities for families to attend the theater together. The Playhouse provides youth performance training and performance opportunities through Broadway Method Academy, its resident conservatory. The Playhouse serves an estimated annual audience of 60,000.
