EVENT DATE Sep 03, 2014

Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in the world and I have the opportunity to volunteer in a community in the northwest of the island. We will be fixing a total of 9 wells in 3 communities that were not dug deep enough so have not been used! This will benefit 1800 villagers And we will also be adding on 2 classrooms to the school and renovating two other rooms which will benefit 200 children. We sometimes forget how fortunate we are to have schools in each of our neighborhoods!
Whole Planet Foundation is supporting microfinance loans in this region and currently has helped over 525 women get loans to build their business and alleviate poverty. Also exciting in this region, is the economic impact Madecasse Chocolate is having since they produce their chocolate from bean-to-bar on the island of Madagascar using some of the best heirloom cocoa.
I was born and raised in Madagascar. This is an amazing place, with its unique wildlife and amazing flora and incredible scenery and I want other people to be able to experience the uniqueness of this island. I want to give back to these people who were a part of my life for 18 years. This money will help me pay for my trip.

Lisa - It was so amazing to be able to visit Madagascar and I know you will have an amazing trip. Enjoy every second. And the people of Madagascar need hope and help - I was not that optimistic, but God works in amazing ways. 4 years ago

Blessings! We were up to Nosy Be once now many years ago. It's very beautiful. Helping folks gain a better water supply yields so many positive benefits. I look forward to updates on your thoughts on being back on the big red island! 4 years ago
