WHO WE ARE
At No Barriers USA we are dedicated to shifting perceptions of what’s possible in life and helping people discover that What’s Within You is Stronger Than What’s in Your Way. Our programs for veterans with disabilities, students, and people facing adversity are all built on the belief that with the right support, inspiration, innovation and opportunity we can all live full and purposeful lives.
The No Barriers Life, a curriculum based around the No Barriers Life Elements, differentiates our experiences from the typical outdoor trip. We use these powerful elements to help remind the people we serve that what’s inside of them is stronger than anything in their way. The most important thing our participants learn is the mindset to overcome barriers and adversity in their life.
No Barriers has three core program areas:
No Barriers Warriors is the only program that improves the lives of veterans with disabilities through curriculum-based experiences in challenging environments.
No Barriers Youth is the premier educational program challenging young people to contribute their absolute best to the world. We do this through transformative experiences, classroom tools, and real-world inspiration.
The No Barriers Summit is a 4-day event that will inspire you with speakers and showcase cutting-edge innovations. Choose from more than 50 adaptive activities that will help you and your family break through barriers and connect with our community. Regardless of your ability, you will leave forever changed. This year’s Summit is at Copper Mountain on June 23-26!
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Support No Barriers by participating in our annual What’s Your Everest fundraiser and prove that What’s Within You is Stronger Than What’s in Your Way. If you can’t attend the event please consider making a donation in honor of the veterans, students and people with disabilities we serve. We hope you’ll notice our Gold Star rating with Guidestar and that 83 cents of every dollar directly supports the people we serve.
Learn more about No Barriers by visiting our website. Here you can meet some of our participants and find information about our 2016 programs.
Customize your page with information about why you’re fundraising for No Barriers - what it means to you to support our work, and provide updates throughout your campaign so your donors see how involved you are. Most importantly, don’t forget to add a photo!
MAKE THE FIRST DONATION
Start your fundraising efforts off strong and lead by example; Making the first donation sets the precedent for others to give. Any amount is a great start. Your donation puts dollars on your page immediately and seeing your name next to those dollars reminds people that you are passionate about this cause and truly helping No Barriers.
Using your social media and networking platforms are a great way to spread the word – think about your Facebook/Twitter/Instagram followers and your LinkedIn connections! Use these platforms as a way to share stories and updates and then be sure to directly email your networks with a direct link to your fundraising page.
Keep in mind when you’re posting that posts don’t need to be a donation ask; share heart about why are you walking and your networks will see these messages and remember your email ask.
Your family, coworkers and friends outside your inner circle all have the potential to give. Remind them that any amount is appreciated. Ask your company if they will match your funds raised; Many companies have an employee match program you can tap into. You can also ask your employer if your fundraiser can be highlighted in the next newsletter!
Think about approaching community groups, sports leagues, local businesses to participate and local companies you do business with (your grocery store, hair salon, etc.)
THANK YOUR DONORS
When you receive donations from your social network, thank them publicly by tagging them in post.
Send out personal emails to thank your donors and keep them updated on your fundraising. Sharing a photo after the walk with an update on your final fundraising is a great way to show them their donation was both impactful and meaningful to you. Be proud!
Q: What is What’s Your Everest?
A: What’s Your Everest is an annual event hosted by No Barriers USA to inspire people to break through barriers and redefine what’s possible. It’s an opportunity for our supporters to participate in a No Barriers experience while raising money for the populations we serve.
Throughout the weekend you’ll celebrate life while being introduced to the No Barriers Life, which includes: learning how to reach beyond your current circumstances; build a rope team of support; and create a vision for the future that inspires you to give your best back to the world around you.
In 2016 we will serve 232 veterans and 200 students at no cost to the participant. We’ll also provide more than 150 scholarships to the No Barriers Summit. That’s more than $1.75 million overall. Help us as we continue to serve more people facing adversity and impact the lives of those around them.
Q: How do I participate?
A: When you register you will have three options – join as an individual, join/create a team and fundraise only. If you are not able to attend the event, select the “fundraise only” option to show your community support. No Barriers requests a minimum donation of $500 to participate in the event, via fundraising or a direct contribution.
Q: I’ve never hiked before. Can I do this?
A: Absolutely! At No Barriers we believe in moving beyond your comfort zone to grow and reach goals. We have multiple route options and a gondola so you can pick your challenge on your way to the summit of Independence Mountain. Our professional mountain guides and No Barriers alumni will be there along the way to support, encourage and inspire you. Join us and accomplish something you’ve never thought possible.
Q: I’m an avid hiker. Will I be bored?
A: No way! Because we have so many great trail options you can pick the challenge that’s right for you, and we’ll let you lead the charge. You’ll also be hiking alongside people that have climbed the world’s tallest peaks. What’s Your Everest is about reaching your summit and gaining perspective on what it means to give your absolute best to the world.
Q: How do I personalize my fundraising page?
A: Go to the Edit My Fundraiser tab. Here, you should edit the text to tell your own story about why you are participating, how it touches your heart, and why it matters. You can also upload photos to help tell your story. Share your personal goal and ask people to help you reach your fundraising goal while supporting our mission.
Q: What if I can't reach my fundraising goal?
A: Every dollar matters. By joining the team you are committing to do your best to reach your goal. Many will exceed it. No Barriers is committed to helping everyone achieve their fundraising goals. We’re here to help and it’s easier than you think with our fundraising tips and tools that you’ll receive via email communications, as well as find in the “Fundraising Tips” tab above. We also have milestones and scheduled contests set up to keep everyone pushing toward their goal.
Q: How do I qualify for Rewards?
