When you hear the word 'disabled', what comes to mind?
Sometimes, one may assume that a wheelchair user cannot do the same things that an able-bodied individual can do.
When you see someone in a wheelchair, are they able to dance?
How about someone who’s blind and/or deaf? Can they still dance?
Or maybe someone who lost sensation and movement from their neck down? Can they still dance?
The answer to all of these questions is YES, and they can do so much more.

Dancing has allowed people with physical disabilities to have freedom of expression - a freedom that reveals their insecurities and deepest fears to a room full of people. Our dancers are simply the epitome of what having motivation, dedication, passion, and inspiration can produce, which can be life-changing in itself.

A few dance enthusiasts and myself are preparing our first ever performance to showcase an array of talented individuals who have survived a spinal cord injury, have blind & visual impairment, are deaf and hard of hearing, individuals with other disabilities, and therapists to come and dance!

Partner-dancing will also be featured where able-bodied dancers pair up with wheelchair users or other people with different limitations to perform a few numbers. We are currently rehearsing for our show, however, we are looking to raise money. Any and all types of donations are welcome and will be greatly appreciated. All our proceeds will be used to reimburse our choreographer, pay for our venue, miscellaneous fees, and anything left over will go towards paying for continued dance lessons for our participants.

This is an opportunity for our participants to challenge themselves and overcome the boundaries that may hinder them from achieving their dreams. Help us provide a new leisure interest, sense of adventure, spontaneity and a chance for these individuals to thrive and shine.
Most importantly, help us reach our goal and spread awareness so that we can create an experience of a lifetime for our wonderful group to improve their quality of life. Our dance program has made it possible for them to be in a place of personal acceptance and a place without limits. It is all about perception and if someone is able to conquer their challenges -then that someone is capable of doing absolutely anything.

If you’re interested in seeing our performance, please stay tuned for a date and time as we finalize our details!
Thank you so much for reading!
