NEXTSTEP CHALLENGES YOU TO SPEND A DAY IN A WHEELCHAIR.
What would it be like to spend a day without the use of your legs? Hard to even imagine, right? That’s exactly why we’re launching our Wheelchair For a Day campaign challenging able-bodied folks to spend a full day in a wheelchair and experience first-hand the difficulties of living with paralysis. We encourage participants to creatively document their experience and share their stories publicly.
Each Wheelchair-For-A-Day-er will create a personalized fundraising page to raise money supporting NextStep’s mission and programs for the disabled. On these pages, they’ll also publicly share their stories, experiences and reflect on the hardships of that day.
NextStep, www.nextstepfitness.org, is a non-profit organization that brings the latest in fitness, health and wellness to individuals living with paralysis and other physical disabilities. Our mission is to educate the American public about the 6-million plus people who suffer from paralysis in the United States, demonstrate the daily challenges involved with living in a wheelchair, and to deliver an urgent wakeup call about the drastic lack of fitness, health, and wellness resources available to those with paralysis-related disabilities which can sadly result in illness and in some cases death. Our long-term goal is to expand to communities nationwide to ensure that anyone living with a physical disability has access to the proper facilities to live a better, longer life.
