BENEFITING: National Network to End Domestic Violence
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. One in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. The No. 1 reason domestic violence victims stay in or return to abusive relationships is a lack of financial resources to break free. The Allstate Foundation Purple Purse is the longest-running national campaign focused on ending domestic violence through a proven solution: financial empowerment services for survivors. Since 2004, The Allstate Foundation has propelled more than 800,000 survivors on the path to safety and security, and has invested more than $50 million to empower victims to break free. The Purple Purse Challenge is an annual competition that ignites fundraising for hundreds of nonprofit organizations serving victims of domestic violence. Since Allstate and The Allstate Foundation believe all victims should be #FreeToWalk, Allstate employees at 80 campuses around the country will host Purple Purse Walks.
