Be A PAL to the Food Pantry of Jeff Davis County In this case, PAL means "Pack A Lunch!” Our schools do not have cafeterias and lunch programs. We determined that we, as a non-profit food pantry, spend about $240 per year per child for school lunches. We ensure that children have healthy wholesome lunches not only on school days, but also for non-school days, all year long. The Food Pantry of Jeff Davis County’s mission is to help all the families in need in our area. This year, we have had 173 households (129 children, 465 individuals) sign up for our services. In total, we are still serving about the same number of families as last year – 20% of our county. Some moved away to better jobs, some passed on and some earned/inherited enough money to live on. Most times, you cannot tell by looking at someone that they are truly hungry.
