WHEN WE WERE CAPITALISTS (or F*ck You, Gordon Gekko)
We are not what we own.
You are not a loan.
You are not alone.
Capitalism is just a story. Let’s tell a better one.

This is a fundraiser for two complimentary projects, rolled into one:
1: a performance project
2. a feature length documentary

Here are the details:

As a follow up to my critically acclaimed documentary American Autumn, this new project is a solo theater piece (and complimentary documentary project, pending funding) currently in development.

Did he just say theater?

YES! This project utilizes all of my training (I hold an MFA in Acting from American Conservatory Theater, have professional acting (Actors Equity) and playwriting experience 10 + years working in—and creating critically acclaimed media for— social justice issues.

Ok, what's it all about?

Capitalism is not working, as I made plainly clear in the "F*ck You Gordon Gekko" segment of American Autumn (see the video linked on this page) but what can we replace it with? This project will highlight the dreamers, doers, and scholars who are bringing big ideas that prioritize people and the planet over profit.

How are you gonna pull that off?

I’ll utilize interviews with scores of individuals for source material to create a piece that combines documentary-style theater to embody/perform dozens of characters (in the style pioneered by Anna Deavere Smith) with autobiographical storytelling informed by my work as an activist and content creator in a variety of social justice and political arenas.

How long will this take?
In development; projected completion in late 2017.

$50k is a lot of money. Where will it go?
Planes, trains, and automobiles, my friend. Also, decent camera, audio, and lighting gear + the salary and expenses for a small film crew with gear to travel and film interviews with dozens of subjects all around the United States for 3 months.

Wait a second Dennis, aren't you doing a podcast? Are you gonna quit that?

Yes, I am doing a podcast and HELL NO—I am not quitting. A Trump Show will continue on its regular schedule. Hell, I may even use some of the interviews I do on the road as part of future podcasts.

So, you are going to perform this on stage AND make a documentary?
The performance and the documentary will be related, but not the same. So yes- but no. I'm doing the writing, production, and research to create 2 complimentary projects.
