Hey friends and family! I'm heading back to Walt Disney World to participate in RunDisney's Princess 1/2 Marathon Weekend in February 2017. I will be participating in the Glass Slipper Challenge, which is a 10k on Saturday, February 25 and a 1/2 marathon on Sunday, February 26.
Some of you may have seen or remember me heading to WDW for the Marathon Weekend in January 2014 when I was fundraising for the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting. I want to pause and thank anyone who visited my page in 2014 and/or chose to donate or cheer on my first attempt. This year I would like to raise funds for Make-A-Wish.
When I was in college, I was part of an amazing organization known as Chi Omega. Our philanthropy was Make-A-Wish and we had some great events benefiting this charity. A few years after I graduated, the group at JCU got to grant a wish through Make-A-Wish. Conveniently enough, they granted a Disney themed wish. It was always a dream of mine to help grant a wish and I would like to get back to my Chi O roots by raising awareness and funds for Make-A-Wish. If you have never heard of Make-A-Wish or need a little motivation to donate to their cause, take a look at Netflix and view BatKid Begins: The Wish Heard Around The World. It is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. what this organization, team and ultimately the city of San Francisco got behind to grant a child's wish. Check it out!
