Founded in 1998, the mission of The White Plains Downtown District Management Association, also known as the White Plains Business Improvement District (White Plains BID) is to improve the social, cultural, and economic landscape of downtown White Plains. The White Plains BID accomplishes its mission by implementing five key programs including (1) Street Cleaning & Beautification, (2) Special Events, (3) Marketing and Business Promotion, (4) Art in Vacant Spaces and (5) liaison services for downtown business and property owners. The White Plains BID is applying for funds to support its Special Events program, to help elevate the presence of art and culture in the downtown. Our Special Events bring people of all walks of life together to enjoy music, food, and most of all the company of their neighbors, friends, families and co-workers. The events help to make White Plains an attractive destination for all who seek a thriving and active community in which to live and work. With your help, we would like to grow our Summer Soulstice Concert beyond a one-time celebration and into a weekly, after-work reprieve during the Summer months. Maya Angelou explained, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."We believe she is right.
