BENEFITING: THE PREGNANCY FOUNDATION
With the diminishing funding of research, 3 large organizations (the World Health Organization, the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine, and the Pregnancy Foundation) have combined to attempt to solve problems through research into health problems of pregnant mothers while taking a global perspective. This combined project will provide a physician trained in high risk pregnancy (maternal fetal medicine) and allow them to gain exposure and provide needed and critical work upon unique international health issues within the United Nations framework. Additionally, this alliance with the UN, through the World Health Organization, provides much needed access to highly trained American high risk pregnancy physicians. This support will provide the finances for these three physician researchers to each spend a 6 month block of time which will provide critical research in pregnancy health under the direction of mentors at the World Health Organization to concentrate on global health problems centered on pregnancy concerns.
