Hi, My name is Maggie Roche. Here is my story why I run for Hope Water! I have always loved to run in races however I was running for my own accomplishments. In 2013, I wanted to run the Detroit half marathon but I was apprehensive about the training and completing the race alone. Even though my mind wanted me to run this race, I wasn't physically in shape at all. I was also apprehensive because in the past I had some medical issues which lead me to endure neurological surgery. During my recovery I had to learn to walk again so running would definitely be a challenge. I decided to sign up for the half marathon with the hope of completing the race. My friend, Melissa Sera was signed up to run the Detroit half marathon with an organization called Hope Water. I started to attend the group runs and learn more about the organization. I was amazed that an organization wanted to help the Pokot tribe in Kenya obtain access to clean drinking water by digging wells. After hearing the story of the Pokot tribe, I was shocked that people were dying from illness that could be prevented with clean drinking water. Everyday I wake up and drink clean water and take it for granted. I run for the Pokot Tribe who are literally dying for water! There is one verse in the Bible that encourages me to continue to run the race for the Pokot people. Hebrews 12:1-2Let us the run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. This will be my fifth half marathon that I complete running with Hope Water. I will continue to persevere through the race marked out before me! Please join me and donate to an organization that is literally saving the Pokot tribe with living water!!
