THE STORY:

Wichita Family Crisis Center wrote -

The statistics are astonishing, but YOU can make a difference! Please donate, or join our team. Help us make sure that women, like Ashley, have the resources necessary to escape the abuse and rebuild their lives. Read Ashley's story below:

"I thought when I met my ex-husband that he was a kind, gentle, and loving man. I never felt afraid around him. We have many shared memories of love and happiness. His controlling behavior started right around the time we were married. He started dictating my outfits and always questioning when I would text a friend or family member. That turned into him choosing my friends for me, my family had become distant under his control and I had to ask permission on what I could wear outside the house. He started screaming at the little things. Belittling me when I had the courage to speak my opinion. He was the sole income for our house. What was I supposed to do? I had no where to go and no money to get anywhere. The physical abuse and accusations of cheating didn’t start until I conceived our first child. He refused to believe me when I denied his claims that our child wasn't his. One night his beating was so bad I almost miscarried. That’s when I decided enough was enough. No one could hurt my baby and I left. This is why I'm forever grateful I decided to seek out the Wichita Family Crisis Center. Without them who knows if my child or myself would be here today.” — Ashley,  Survivor

The Wichita Family Crisis Center serves more than 1,200 women and children each year that are fleeing their homes in search of safety. Statistics tell us that many more women are facing this violent crime. In fact, one in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime – that’s more than breast cancer, ovarian cancer and lung cancer combined.

The statistics are astonishing, but YOU can make a difference! Please donate, or join our team. Help us make sure that women, like Ashley, have the resources necessary to escape the abuse and rebuild their lives.

No amount it too small to show that you are taking a stand against domestic violence in our community. Here are examples of how your donation makes an impact:

$10 will provide a meal for a mother and child staying in shelter.

$25 will provide a welcome kit (toiletries) for a woman entering shelter or an entire month of counseling.

$50 will provide art, play and support groups for a child who has witnessed domestic violence.

$100 will provide one month of transportation assistance helping commute to job interviews, work or school.

$500 will provide legal/medical assistance for a victim of domestic violence.

ANY amount you choose will help those who are struggling for their everyday survival and  making a better life for their children!
