BENEFITING: Seeds of Peace, Inc.
It has been more than a year since Wil Smith passed away. He was an inspirational counselor, Associate Camp Director, coach, friend, and so much more.
Last summer, Seeds of Peace created the Wil Smith Scholarship to support at least one new camper who represents the values, ideas, and leadership skills that Wil modeled. We were touched by the response of our Seeds of Peace community and honored to select the fund’s first recipient, Losseni Berry, who attended Camp this summer.
Losseni knew Wil personally through the Berkshire School, and learned about Seeds of Peace from Wil. He attended the Middle East session this summer as part of the American Delegation, where he engaged deeply in dialogue and Camp activities.
Losseni is from New York City, and will start 11th grade this fall. His interests range from social justice to education reform and track & field. Hear more about Losseni’s experience at Camp and life lessons he learned from Wil ››
“Camp was more than life-changing. It gave me hope for humanity and other people by allowing me to see myself in others. For me, Seeds of Peace was a candle lighting up a dark room.”
We are grateful for the support from our entire Seeds of Peace community and aspire to see the scholarship fund grow as we being to plan for next summer. Wil played an inspirational role in our community, and we hope that this scholarship—supported by Seeds, educators, parents and staff—will help reflect the magnitude of his impact and legacy.
