BENEFITING: WILDLIFE SANCTUARY OF NORTHWEST FLORIDA INC
Hello! My name is Luke Umbreit, a volunteer at the Sanctuary. I've done everything from helping build an aviary to cutting the grass around the property. I've cleaned cages, washed linen, prepared food, fed critters and mopped floors. I've helped at seasonal food drives and my daughter sang and played her guitar at open house events (That was Amazing!). My time spent with the sanctuary has been some of the most rewarding times of my life and I'm creating this fund raiser in hopes that they will be here for a very long time to come. The Wildlife Sanctuary of Northwest Florida in Pensacola strives to keep local wildlife healthy by receiving, rehabilitating and releasing injured animals and providing a "peaceful sanctuary" for debilitated or permanently injured animals brought there by the caring community and local advocacy groups. The Wildlife Sanctuary in Pensacola is a wonderous place, a joy to visit and a pleasure to volunteer at. Filled with an extraordinary array of beautiful needy wildlife depending on the contributions from the local municipality and support from government agencies to keep things running smoothly. Unfortunately, county budget cuts has put a damper on their progress, a strain on the staff and unneeded stress on the animals (Deer, foxes, bob cats, skunks, many birds of prey, pelicans, geese, and much more are housed here). As a result, The Wildlife Sanctuary and it's volunteers hold fundraising events and food/supply drives where the ask for everything from; Purina Puppy Chow, Cat chow mix, liquid laundry soap, trash bags (13 and 45 gal.), towels, Qt. freezer bags, fresh/frozen veggies, pine straw, fresh/frozen meats, nuts and dried fruit, paper towels and lots of sweet potatoes to supplement the loss; however, the "operating expenses are huge" and with their dedicated, motivated mentality there is always room for expansion. The small $5,000 dollar goal will not help with expanding the property of the little seven acre sanctuary but it WILL help build or repair habitats and save lives! "The Wildlife Sanctuary does not use professional fund raising solicitors or consultants." I myself volunteered to create this fundraiser to see this little, yet highly efficient, nurturing sanctuary survive.
