Danielle and Meg met in January at the start of the Spring 2012 Williams-Mystic Maritime Studies semester. (www.williams.edu/williamsmystic) Just a few days later, Danielle, the Admissions Counselor for the program and an S09 alum, and Meg, an energetic S12 student, began their sailng adventure together aboard the SSV Corwith Cramer in the Straits of Florida for 10 days alongside their extraordinary peers: Williams-Mystic students, staff, and faculty.
Aboard the ship, both Danielle and Meg realized they hoped to run a half marathon this Spring, and decided it would be way more fun to join forces and participate in the event together. Like true shipmates, they've managed to encourage each other to stay active over the past few months and well-fueled, thanks to the Williams-Mystic philosophy to eat every 120 minutes.
Meg and Danielle have discussed the life-changing experience of Williams-Mystic on many occasions during their runs together. They've also discussed that they would love to run for a cause greater than the ability to say: "Remember when we decided to run that half-marathon together during the most jam-packed semester of our lives? That was funny."
Jam-packed is one way to describe Williams-Mystic, though transformative might be a better word for the program. (Watch how others describe the Williams-Mystic experience in one word right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zz1IcIolwgs) We therefore want to share the love and the opportunity for future students to participate in this experience that we were both privileged to enjoy.
All proceeds will benefit the Williams-Mystic Scholarship Drive. Please help us raise money over these next two weeks. Any contribution, from $1 to $100, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your donation!
