It's done! 3:49:18. As Marathons go, Boston 2015 is definitely an in-between, midway between my personal best and my worst, time-wise. On the plus side: My muscles didn't cramp, my feet and knees stood up to the pounding, my asthma did not act up. On the negative, I "hit the wall" after Cleveland Circle and had to struggle home, especially over the very familiar terrain between Coolidge Corner and Audubon Circle. Perhaps I should have started out slower, or paused for a bite at the Natick-Framingham line, or not worn a wind-catching, water-retaining jacket on a cold, wet and windy day, or rested and not run the Saturday and Sunday before. One thing for sure, the Boston Marathon commands respect. It will never, ever go down without a fight. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SPONSORSHIP AND FOR SUPPORTING WALKBOSTON!

Time for one last thank you to you, my sponsors, before the big race. Weather reports suggest focus will be on finishing rather than setting a P.R. Fitting end to a brutal training season. Thanks to you, we did well by WalkBoston. If you care to track my progress, text my number, 16852, to 234567. You'll get text bulletins when I cross various sensor wires. Thanks so much for your generous support!

Great news! Ed Seksay of Rockland Trust Company just donated $100 bringing me over the $5,000 fundraising goal line and bringing the WalkBoston Marathon Running Team over its collective goal of $25,000!! Heartfelt thanks to all of my sponsors for helping us reach our fundraising goals!

Marathon Training Update: Completed the second week of my training taper with a 10-mile out-and-back along the Course from the Back Bay to BC and back to the finish line yesterday (Saturday) morning. Pleased to average just a little over an 8 min/mile pace. Topped it off this morning with a Charity "Run for the Troops" 5K in Andover, finishing 2d in my division with an even 7:00/mile pace. Hoping to get a deep tissue massage this week in preparation for next weekend's races -- the BAA 5K on Saturday and the Marathon on Patriot's Day Monday. Fundraising continues strong as I approach the $4,500 mark on my way to my $5,000 goal for WalkBoston. Thank you for your support!

This morning we ran from Hopkinton to BC -- a distance of 21 miles on the Marathon course, hundreds and hundreds of us charity runners and elite runners too, all topping out our training before the "taper". There were snow flurries and pictures at the start, a long wait for a crossing light in downtown Natick, tons of traffic in Wellesley, and dozens of volunteers with water, Gatorade, pretzels and energy gel along the way. By the time we got to the turn at the Newton Fire Station at mile 18, the snow was coming down pretty steady. I did not "hit the wall" and ran the whole way without stopping. I feel confident that on race day I'll be able to finish with a respectable if not PR time. When I got back on line, I was delighted to see that a sponsorship donation from dear friend (and fabulous pianist) Moira Lo Bianco had put me over my fundraising goal! Thank you so much for being my generous sponsors!

Many thanks for your generous sponsorship and support of WalkBoston. Received Runner's Passport from the BAA in the mail yesterday, with the paperwork needed to pick up my racing bib with the computer chip and my number 16852. Pre-race training is peaking tomorrow morning with a 21-mile CharityTeams group run from the Hopkinton start to BC. Knees feeling a little weak, but I'm thinking that's more psychological than physical. Thanks to you, I am very close to achieving my personal fundraising goal and our WalkBoston Marathon Team is half way to our $25,000 team goal. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Training on pace, though the weather and a lingering cold have done their best to interfere. 37 days out and yesterday the BAA posted the racing bib numbers and starting line up assignments, based on expected finish times. My Bib # is 16852. I'll be starting in Wave 3, Corral 1. I'm hoping to finish in about 3 hours, 30 minutes, or an 8 minute/mile pace. Starting in the first corral means I'll have to exercise some self discipline to keep from starting out too fast. Fundraising is also on pace, thanks to you. Hoping for a swell in sponsorship donations as we approach the Big Day.
