BENEFITING: Willistown Conservation Trust, Inc.
What an amazing place. Acres of open, rural land, surrounded by dense suburban development, just 15 miles from Philadelphia. Made possible by Willistown Conservation Trust and its founders, who have been protecting land from development here for 35 years.
And it's not only pretty to look at. It's improving the health and vitality of the region beyond Willistown.
The Trust uses this reservoir of preserved lands to be both inspiring and productive. As an example, at Rushton Woods Preserve and Farm, small-scale sustainable farming practices are both feeding the community and benefitting the surrounding natural areas. Students of all ages are studying how this model farm impacts the ecosystem. Bird banding taking place there is mesauring its impact on bird populations (extremely positively so far!) and contributing to global bird conservation.
There aren't many places like this left in the Philadelphia area. Help me make sure it stays this way and the Trust can continue to do its good work.
