Getting a college education after high school is more important to our students than ever, and at the same time it is less affordable than ever. Since the spring of 2005, the Wilson Dollars for Scholars Alumni and Faculty Scholarship Foundation has raised more than $80,000 for college tuition assistance to Wilson students, in large part through individual donations by Wilson faculty, staff, and students like you.
Every dollar we raise goes directly to our college-bound seniors in awards of $1000 or more, selected based on applicants’ financial need, academic and extracurricular achievement, and community service. Recent recipients of our awards are succeeding at outstanding colleges and universities including Harvard, Stanford, Smith, Pepperdine, USC, UCLA, UC Berkeley, other UC’s and CSU’s, and many others. Their success inspires us to keep doing what we can to help.
Every donation you make during our spring drive is matched by our cofounder, up to the first $6000 donated. Our affiliation with the A+ rated national non-profit Scholarship America makes many of our awards double again, through matching grants by partner colleges themselves- meaning that your donation will result in a tuition benefit of up to $40 for every $10 you give. Each year’s matching challenge has succeeded with broad participation from faculty, staff, alumni, students, and friends, many of whom also volunteer their time by serving on our board.
All of us at Wilson have a right to be proud of our college-going culture and the help we give our students to get them there. Your donation to our foundation for scholarships is a valuable part of that larger effort. Thank you for your contribution, in any amount, to this important campaign.
