Special Spectators is an organization that provides magical days for seriously ill children at collegiate football games. Tailgating, meeting mascots, cheerleaders, and the band -- gaining special access to the team and/or coach -- being on the field at halftime. I've participated with the organization and I've seen up close how the families are impacted -- first, they graced with the gift of a day of fun, joy and excitement . The kids are kids -- and they love it all, from the bean toss at the tailgate, to the excitement of the game itself, to the extraordinary experience of seeing themselves on the jumbotron at halftime. I watched dads just as excited as the kids to see the teams run out on the field. And the moms being able to relax into the event without having to do a thing except be with their families and share in the delight of the day. A simple, yet profound gift, for these families who do not, unlike most of us, take life for granted. I've seen the athletes who meet these kids and who are in fact inspired themselves. Who recognize that in the midst of their hard work there are others who are experiencing very different challenges. It creates a new perspective, one that lets them see not only how they can make a positive impact on others, but also how lucky they are themselves -- and how in their position they can make a profound difference for others. And the crowd -- when these kids appear on the jumbotron, compassion and caring is unleashed in 100,000+ people - and they are also gifted with a sense of generosity toward these children and families and a sense of humility. I have always believed that that wave of acknowledgment and support has to be good for the planet. Blake Rockwell, founder, has been doing this for fifteen years -- just for the love of it. Without a staff, without much of a budget, but with a rock solid commitment to these children and their families Blake has literally touched thousands of family members, athletes, and millions of spectators, . And now Blake has the opportunity to take this venture to a whole new level. Please join me in supporting Blake, Special Spectators, the kids, the moms and dads, the athletes, and the spectators. You have the opportunity to impact more people than you will ever know in a way that is profound and rich -- you too, can make an amazing difference. Give yourself, and all of them, the gift of impact. We can all win in this game, together.
