THE STORY:

Wine Women & Shoes, benefitting Communities In Schools of Greater Tarrant County, will be held at Ridglea Country Club on Friday, October 14 from 6-10 p.m. We expect more than 500 women to attend and enjoy a night of wine tasting, boutique style shopping, a fashion show, and seated dinner. Communities In Schools is focused on keeping at-risk Tarrant County students in school by placing full-time, licensed social workers inside local schools to provide intensive, ongoing case management services for students in pre-K through 12th grade. We currently serve 37,000 students in 57 schools, in 9 different Tarrant County school districts. Schools contribute half of program costs and we raise the matching half from supporters in the community. We have a 99% success rate at keeping at-risk students in school and on the path toward graduation! Proceeds raised at Wine Women & Shoes support CIS case management services, helping us raise the matching funds we need to say “yes” when schools request a CIS social worker full-time on their campus. Each year we must re-raise the support needed to sustain our current level of programs, and hopefully add 1 or 2 additional schools (100-300) additional students. Last year we raised $185,000 at this event…this year we hope to raise $200,000. We hope you will consider supporting us and helping us reach our goal!
