Winters Swim Team
Organized by: Morgan Doran
The Winters Swim Team is asking for your help to raise funds for a new, automated timing system and scoreboard for swim meets. Our goal is to raise $8,000, which is a lot of money, but definitely possible in a community like Winters which strongly supports great programs for our youth. The Winters Swim Team has benefited thousands of youth over many generations and six decades. We have a beautiful pool with a great swim team and this timing system and scoreboard will be a great complement to our facility instilling lots of pride.
The new timing system consists of 18 Bluetooth watches, two per lane (x 8 lanes) plus two back up watches. The watches start automatically via a wireless signal from the starter and wirelessly communicate event times to a computer and scoreboard once each timer hits the stop button. The Winters Swim Team has been to meets in other small towns that use this system and it is far superior to the manual system we currently have. This system increases accuracy of timing by automatically starting the watches for each lane. It eliminates the need for manual recording of each time and produces instant results at the end of each event on the scoreboard. All the times are recorded automatically, eliminating the need for volunteers to manually enter times into the computer software. And all results will upload instantly to the Meet Mobile app so you can see results for your swimmer on your phone.
This system essentially brings us from early 20th century technology to the 21st century. Please join your friends and neighbors in supporting the swim team that has provided water safety education, friendly competition and a fun summer activity to so many Winters children.
