BENEFITING: VISIONS MADE VIABLE
In June of 2004, Lynn, Amanda, and Cindy visited Kaoma. Upon seeing what women were doing, they decided to start a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization to raise money for the people of Kaoma. They decided to call the non-profit WISE: Women's Initiatives that Strengthen and Empower. In March of 2005, WISE received non-profit status. In the years since Lynn's first visit to Kaoma, Margaret and the women's club of Kaoma, Zambia, with the help and support of WISE, have built a women's center, which works to improve the lives of women and the community. WISE also supports an orphanage and community school in Kaoma, funds scholarships for local students to complete high school, and a water project to provide water to the city of Kaoma.
