BENEFITING: Kenya Education Fund
My name is Marilyn and I am a 63 year old grandmother with a passion to help Maasai children in Kenya receive an education. The funds raised here will send 4 children to high school for all 4 years! (High school in Kenya is not free). Over the past 3 years, I have became a humanitarian and champion of the huge needs of a community in Southern Kenya called Loita Hills. Located in the heart of Maasai land, Loita Hills has no roads, lights, or hospitals. Most of the Maasai are still living in dung homes raising cattle as their primarily source of income but some now grow corn and other produce. In 2005, I was introduced to this lovely community when I developed a friendship with my safari guide. He took me to his home in Loita Hills to meet his family and to photograph a special ceremony where a young man was to become the chief of his age group. I was honored to receive this very special invitation. I was introduced and became close to the newly appointed chief, Chief William. He explained to me the many challenges in leading a community that struggles with illiteracy. From that moment on, I have dedicated myself to helping this community thrive. It has become clear that a priority is sending children to school. A cow may die but an education lasts forever. Unfortuately, secondary school (high school) in Kenya is not free. But the children I meet desperately want to be in school. They have the will all they need is the way. Will you help me give them this life changing opportunity by contributing to my campaign to send 4 Maasai children to school today? Thank you for your support!
