ABOUT ME: I'm a 24-year-old, ex-cross-country runner who has decided it's finally time to get training again. I wasn't sure I wanted to commit to the marathon until I realized I could run for a charity that I really connect to: WITNESS. I do documentary work for an arts education non-profit in NYC, and believe that storytelling through video (and other mediums) does have the power to bring about awareness and change. I'm psyched to be running for this organization and would appreciate any support you can give in the form of donations to WITNESS (even $10 gets me a little closer to that intimidating $3000 goal)!
ABOUT WITNESS: Co-founded by musician and activist Peter Gabriel in 1992, WITNESS uses video to open the eyes of the world to human rights violations. WITNESS partners with organizations around the world to bring the power of video into their existing campaigns and advance human rights causes. Videos from these collaborations have helped shed light on the systemic repression of ethnic minorities in Burma, persecute recruiters of child soldiers in the Democratic Republic of Congo and pass the first law protecting elders from abuse in the US.
