Established in 1985, The Wolf River Conservancy (WRC) is dedicated to the protection and enhancement of the Wolf River and its watershed as a sustainable natural resource.
The Wolf River Conservancy has three major focus areas – conservation, education and recreation – that reflect the mission of our organization.
Conservation – We have protected over 14,000 acres along the Wolf River watershed in an effort to improve air and water quality, provide healthy habitats for plants and animals and protect the precious land and water.
Education – We have helped connect people to the Wolf River through education. In the past year, WRC has worked with approximately 2,700 young people and nearly 1,000 adults in service projects, classroom and community programs, field trips, workshops and a lecture series.
Recreation – We connect people to the Wolf River through recreational opportunities. In the past year, we have led more than 50 paddling trips with over 650 people.
The Wolf River Conservancy is also making monumental strides in completing the entire 21-plus mile Wolf River Greenway trail within the Memphis City limits by 2019. This urban greenway will help connect many communities within the city and supports our three focus areas of conservation, education and recreation today and for future generations.
